In Alba's paper, structural color emerges spontaneously in one step thanks to phase-separation in the solid state.

by Andrea Testa

In this work, Alba developed a self-limiting approach to polymerization-induced phase separation to obtain structural color in polymeric materials of any shape and size. This research was carried out in collaboration with Empa, and with contributions from researchers from ETH, PSI, Yale and Yale-NUS.
